Sivakashi (si•va•ga•shi) in SiSwati means visitor. That is what I am. The journey of my life has taken me from one country to another. Because of this, I have never really felt like I am from any one place. I am not one culture, belief or tradition. I don’t have any sports teams that I rep on a flat-brimmed, fitted hat or speak in any geographically recognizable accent. I think of myself as a cultural nomad; experiencing and absorbing the best of what each country and people have to offer. The world, with all of it’s vastness and flavor, is an adventure and I will never stop exploring. I am and always will be, a visitor, wandering from place to place as an outsider. I am currently working with the Peace Corps as a health development volunteer in Swaziland. Swaziland has a rich cultural tradition and the Swazi people are kind and welcoming. My village known as Ekuvinjelweni, is located high in the mountains of northern Swaziland. I work at a rural clinic and teach life skills at a primary school. This is my life:
